MOGbox DLC Options

High compliance voltage US$400
For standard DLC controllers, the maximum voltage available to the laser diode is 6V at 100mA and 3.2V at 200mA. These are more than sufficient for most laser diodes in the visible and infrared spectrum.

Most blue, violet and UV diodes can also be driven with a standard DLC. The typical compliance voltage required for violet diodes such as the Nichia NDHV310APC (408nm) is 4.6V at 85mA, with a maximum of 5.5V at 110mA. The NDHU110APAE3 ultraviolet (375nm) diode is specified as typically 5.3V at 80mA. The newer NDU1113E ultraviolet (375nm) device typically requires 5.2V at 60mA. However, they have maximum compliance voltages of 6.5V at 110mA and 80mA respectively, just outside the range of a standard DLC controller.

Higher compliance voltage is available as an option; please contact MOGLabs for details.

Extended temperature range No charge
The default temperature range is 0°C to 30°C. The temperature controller has a safety limit of −5°C. If the detected temperature is below this, the temperature controller disables the TEC output to prevent overheating of the laser.

The range and safety limit can be altered in the factory at no charge; please specify the desired range on your order. Note that large temperature ranges can make it tedious to set exactly the right temperature, and have some impact on stability. The temperature range and limit can be altered by the end-user with a couple of minor resistor changes.

Photodiodes No charge
The default photodetector has filtered photodiodes, with transmission from 750 to 1100nm, and a narrow viewing angle (±10°). These are inherently insensitive to laboratory lighting and sunlight, and the narrow viewing angle further reduces background noise. For lasers operating in the visible range, photodiodes with sensitivity down to 400nm can be supplied at no charge. Wider viewing angles of ±20° or ±75° can also be supplied at no charge. Please specify the options on your order, and contact MOGLabs if you require operation outside the 400nm to 1100nm spectrum.

Laser headboard mounting plate US$60 and US$40
The MOGbox electronics includes a laser headboard, with protection circuits, RF bias tee, and breakout connectors to make it easy to connect your laser. MOGLabs can provide a mechanical mounting plate, with machined holes for the main connector, LED indicator lamp, and RF injection SMA connector. Two types are available: one is a direct replacement for the endplate of a Toptica DL100 laser; the other is a simpler laser-cut anodised aluminium rectangle (76mm x 47mm x 2mm thick).

Laser headboard US$270
Additional laser headboards can be helpful if you have multiple lasers for each MOGbox controller.

Laser cable US$50
Additional MOGbox-to-laser cables can also be purchased. They are standard 2m long DVI-D dual-link cables. You can obtain such cables elsewhere but please be careful to specify dual-link, and note that we have observed substantial ringing oscillations with cheap cables.

Digital oscilloscope US$610
We are offering a fabulous two-channel colour digital oscilloscope at the low price of US$610. Follow this link for information on the oscilloscope, and please contact us for further details.

Atomic vapour cells US$290
MOGLabs is pleased to stock a number of vapour cells manufactured by our US partners, Triad Technology. These are the same cells sold by Thorlabs, but at much better prices. We keep standard rubidium (natural isotopic mix) and caesium cells, 75mm length x 25mm diameter. We can also supply cells with optically contacted windows (imaging quality), quartz cells, and cells with isotopically pure Rb85 or Rb87, sodium, potassium, iodine, and a number of standard molecular gases such as acetylene, hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, and methane.

Zeeman coil and mount US$250
AC (peak centre) locking is easy with a MOGbox, for example by modulating the injection current. However, the linewidth is then increased. The MOGbox can also directly drive a coil around the vapour cell, to modulate the atomic resonance. MOGLabs can provide a PCB with vapour cell, coil, and impedance balance circuitry. The price includes Bode plot of tested frequency response. The vapour cell must be purchased separately.
